Your data

Plain English first. The Privacy Policy is the formal version and the one that counts legally — this page is what it means.

It works when the connection doesn't

Changes save on your device first and go up when there's a signal. That's the difference between an app you can use in a walk-in freezer and one you can't.

If two people change the same thing while one was offline, HomeStock keeps the newer change and tells the person whose change was replaced. It doesn't pick silently, because silently is how somebody finds out a week later that their stock count never happened.

If something genuinely can't be saved, you get a message at the top of the screen naming what's failing, and it keeps retrying. It won't show you a change as saved when it isn't.

Who can see what

Access is granted per person, and it's enforced on the server — not just hidden in the interface. Somebody without permission to see wages doesn't get sent the wages and then have them concealed; they're never sent.

In a Business space, staff contact details and pay are held separately from everything else so they can be locked down on their own. They are readable only by the owner and by people the owner has specifically allowed.

A shared space is not your data alone

This is the rule the rest follows from. If you set up a household or a business space and other people are in it, that space holds their records too — the shopping they added, the stock they counted, in a business their own hours.

So a shared space is never deleted along with your account. It's handed over to somebody else in it. Only a space nobody else uses goes with you, because that one genuinely is only yours.

Deleting your account

In the app: Settings → About → Delete Account. Before you confirm anything, HomeStock shows you what would happen to each of your spaces — which are handed over, to whom, and which are deleted with you.

Confirming starts a 14-day countdown, and nothing is deleted during it. Every screen in the app carries the number of days left and a Keep my account button, so you can stop it at any point just by signing in. It's put in front of you rather than buried, because somebody who changes their mind shouldn't have to go looking.

When the countdown ends, your account and your personal information are deleted. The Privacy Policy sets out the timescales and what happens to backups.

What we don't do

  • We don't sell or share your personal information.
  • There is no advertising in HomeStock and no advertising trackers in it.
  • We don't read your data to build a profile of you.
  • We don't email you things you didn't ask for.

Getting a copy, or getting it corrected

You can edit or delete anything you've entered directly in the app. If you want a copy of what we hold, or something corrected, write to support@gethomestock.com from the address on your account.

If your details are in your employer's HomeStock — they control that information and can change or remove it themselves in the app, which is much quicker than going through us. Ask them first. If that doesn't work, write to us and we'll help them action it.

This page is a plain-English summary and is not the contract. Where it and the Privacy Policy differ, the Privacy Policy is what applies.
