Common questions first. If yours isn't here, get in touch at the bottom.

Getting started

What's the difference between Personal, Household and Business?

They're three kinds of space. A Personal space is just yours. A Household space is shared with people you invite — everyone sees the same lists. A Business space adds real stock control: every movement is recorded with costs, plus purchase orders, suppliers, stock counts, staff hours and payroll. You can have several, of any kind.

Do the people I invite need to pay?

No. Whoever creates the space pays; everyone invited uses it free and never needs their own subscription. A family pays once, and so does a business with staff.

Does it work without internet?

Yes. Changes save on your device and sync when you're back online — a cold storeroom or a basement freezer won't stop you working. If two people change the same thing while one is offline, HomeStock keeps the newer change and tells you it did.

Subscriptions

How do I subscribe?

You can't yet. HomeStock is free to use in your browser while it's being finished, and nothing is being charged. When subscriptions open, families will subscribe in the app and businesses will also be able to subscribe here on the website, which suits company cards and invoicing better.

What happens if I stop paying?

Your spaces become read-only. Nothing is deleted. Everything stays exactly as it was and comes straight back when you subscribe again.

Your data

How do I delete my account?

In the app, go to Settings → About → Delete Account. Before you confirm, it shows you exactly what happens to each of your spaces.

Confirming starts a 14-day countdown. Nothing is deleted during it. Every screen shows how many days are left and a Keep my account button, so you can stop it at any point by signing in. When the countdown ends, your account and personal information are deleted permanently.

What happens to a space other people use?

It is never deleted with your account — other people rely on it. You choose who takes it over before you confirm, and if you don't choose, it goes to the longest-standing member. Only a space nobody else uses is deleted with you, because that one is genuinely your own data.

I'm an employee and my details are in someone's HomeStock

Your employer controls that information and can correct or remove it directly in the app — ask them first, as it's much quicker. If that doesn't work, contact us and we'll help them action it.

Something's wrong

The app looks out of date or is behaving strangely

Refresh the page. HomeStock updates itself, but a browser tab left open for a long time can hold on to an old version. If that doesn't fix it, close the tab and reopen it.

The barcode scanner won't open

It needs permission to use your camera, and your browser will only ask once. If you said no, you'll need to allow the camera for this site in your browser settings. You can always type a barcode in by hand instead.

My changes aren't saving

HomeStock will tell you at the top of the screen if it can't reach the server, and it keeps your changes and retries. If you're in a shared space and only some things won't save, you may not have permission for that part — ask whoever owns the space.

Contact

A support address is being set up along with the rest of this site and will appear here. In the meantime, the app itself is the best place to work from — everything above can be done without contacting anyone.
